5 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali, Rwanda

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your Uganda Family Tours representative and transferred to your hotel.

Depending on your arrival time, relax and enjoy the hotel's facilities while preparing for the adventure ahead. Kigali is known as one of Africa’s cleanest and safest cities, providing the perfect introduction to Rwanda.

Day 2: Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, begin a guided city tour of Kigali. Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial to learn about Rwanda’s history and the country's inspiring recovery and development.

After lunch, depart Kigali and enjoy a scenic drive through Rwanda’s rolling hills, terraced farmland, and beautiful countryside toward Volcanoes National Park in Musanze District.

Arrive at your lodge in the foothills of the Virunga Mountains and spend the evening enjoying the spectacular scenery.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking and Cultural Experience

After an early breakfast, transfer to Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a briefing before starting your Golden Monkey Trek.

Enter the bamboo forests accompanied by experienced guides and trackers. Once located, spend time observing these playful and highly active primates as they move through the forest.

Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, visit the famous Iby'Iwacu Cultural Village. Meet local community members and former poachers who now promote conservation through tourism. Experience traditional dances, cultural performances, storytelling, and local customs.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking Adventure and Twin Lakes Excursion

Today is the highlight of your safari.

After an early breakfast, transfer to Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a briefing by park rangers before beginning your Mountain Gorilla Trekking adventure.

The trek can take anywhere from 2 to 8 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family. Hike through lush rainforest, bamboo vegetation, and mountain slopes while tracking the gorillas.

Upon locating the gorilla family, spend one magical hour observing these magnificent creatures in their natural environment. This extraordinary wildlife encounter is often described as one of Africa's greatest safari experiences.

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.

Later in the afternoon, visit the beautiful Twin Lakes of Ruhondo and Bulera. Enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding hills and volcanoes while taking memorable photographs.

Day 5: Return to Kigali and Departure

After breakfast, check out and begin your scenic drive back to Kigali.

Enjoy your final views of Rwanda's rolling green hills as you travel through the countryside. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for last-minute shopping or sightseeing in Kigali.

You will then be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your unforgettable Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari.
