Gorilla trekking is Rwanda's most iconic safari activity and one of the world's greatest wildlife experiences. The adventure takes place in Volcanoes National Park, home to several habituated families of endangered mountain gorillas living on the slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes.

Accompanied by experienced park rangers and trackers, visitors hike through bamboo forests and montane vegetation in search of a designated gorilla family. Trekking times vary depending on the gorillas' location, ranging from one to several hours. Once found, visitors spend one unforgettable hour observing these magnificent primates as they feed, groom, play, and care for their young.

Every gorilla trekking permit directly supports wildlife conservation, anti-poaching initiatives, scientific research, and community development projects surrounding the park.
